Do the wheelbarrow! A Wedding dancefloor at its best
Two lads get funky on the dancefloor
Documentary Wedding Photography at Thursford Steam Museum | Andrew & Kathi
Andrew and Kathi’s celebration at the Thursford Steam Museum was a Norfolk wedding like no other. From the moment the guests arrived, the atmosphere was electric. As a documentary wedding photographer, you look for that specific energy where you know the day is going to be full of unscripted, "striking" moments.
A Norfolk & Austrian Fusion
This wedding was a beautiful cross-continental celebration. Andrew is Norfolk born and bred, while Kathi moved from Austria to the UK where they met, they then moved back to Austria together. In an incredible show of support, a huge contingent of Austrian friends and family made the journey across Europe to this small corner of North Norfolk.
The Austrian guests certainly knew how to get the party started. Combining the joy of a wedding with the freedom of a holiday, they truly "let rip" on the dancefloor.
The Shot: The Austrian "Wheelbarrow"
The two lads in this photo—cousins from Austria—quickly became the stars of the evening, cycling through every classic dancefloor move in the book. I was perfectly positioned to capture "The Wheelbarrow" in all its glory.
As a photographer, what I love about this image isn't just the action; it’s the story in the details:
The pure, uninhibited joy on the faces of the crowd.
The rhythmic clapping of hands in the background.
The intense, hilarious focus on the "barrow pusher’s" face.
Preserving the Honest Moments
It is these fleeting, chaotic, and joyful moments that truly define a wedding day. My role as a documentary photographer is to be there when the guards are down, capturing the "striking" memories that keep the spirit of the day alive long after the music stops.
